Q: What are the differences between our different club programs?
(Boys 15U-18U season runs SEP thru FEB with an option to play again in JUN)
Q: What is open enrollment and how does it affect my child?
Open enrollment is a program we use to allow all athletes the ability to have placement onto a club volleyball team and receive quality instruction. Open enrollment allows for an athlete to be guaranteed a place on one of our non-travel (Regional Program) teams. After enrolling the athlete will be instructed to attend one of our tryout dates for team placement. This will determine which level of team the athlete is best suited based on their skill set. Open enrollment and acceptance into our club requires: online registration, deposit of $250, attendance to one of the tryout dates for team placement, web point registration, and signed participation contract.
Athletes looking to play travel will need to attend tryouts to be considered for our national teams. There a NO guaranteed spots on a national team. If you did not make the national program you will be offered a spot on one of the regional teams based on your tryout.
Q: When are practices? How often do Top Flight VBC teams practice? Where do they practice?
Practice days and times depend on which team you make however the practice slots are as follows:

Q: When are games/matches played? How often do the teams play? Where are the tournaments played?
Top Flight VBC participates in USAV (USA Volleyball) tournaments and events. Tournaments are held on Saturdays and/or Sundays around the Chicagoland area. Some teams will also travel to tournaments throughout the Midwest that offer a great deal of exposure and competition. Each coach will give the teams their specific schedule when the team begins practice and those schedules will also be available online.
Q: What is Top Flight's policy on parent involvement? Are parents asked to volunteer their time?
Top Flight prides itself on our relationship with our parents. Top Flight has an open door policy with our parents and encourages our parents to communicate with our staff. The open door policy does not exist during tournaments and practices; we feel a neutral time is the best for staff/parent discussions. We encourage parents to support their child and the athletes on their team.
Q: What is Top Flight's philosophy on playing time?
At Top Flight we believe playing time is earned, not given. Top Flight's dues guarantee the athlete quality coaching, practice time, uniforms, registration and training. Playing time is determined by the coach based on several criteria - practice, attitude, game performance & skill. Every player has the opportunity to prove themselves at practice. Top Flight is a competitive volleyball environment and the teams are administered that way.
*Playing time and related issues are encouraged to be resolved between player and coach. After such meetings, if the issue still remains, a formal meeting with the player, coach and director will be held.*
Q: Is there a fee for the tryouts? What do we need to bring?
Each athlete must pay a one time $30 fee to tryout. The fee includes participation in all tryout dates for that season. Each athlete is encouraged to bring non-marking rubber soled shoes, athletic clothing (spandex recommended), water bottle and a towel.
Q: Can I pre-register for the tryouts? What paperwork can I fill out prior to the tryout?
Yes, pre-registration is available on the Top Flight VBC Registration Page. In fact, pre-registration is required. The USAV Liability Wavier and Release form can be filled out during pre-registration. Even with pre-registration, some forms may be required at check-in for your tryout. All forms needed are available at check-in.
Q: When will I know if I was accepted into our club program?
During tryouts one of the Top Flight coaches may tell you that you are accepted into the club. If you are not contacted during tryouts then a phone call will be made to you and your parents after the last tryout date regarding acceptance. Top Flight athletes will receive a parent packet and information after accepting the offer to play for Top Flight VBC. Players that do not make the Junior National program will be given the option to play for the Regional teams. This will be discussed with the player and parent during the telephone call placed after the last tryout date.
Q: When will I know what team I made?
The majority of the team rosters will be finalized after the final tryout but before the parent meeting. Adjustments to rosters could happen for the first two weeks of the season.
Q: I was selected to a team what do I do now? When is the Parent Meeting?
ach player that makes the Junior National or Junior Regional program will be given/emailed a parent packet for their parents which has three forms that need to be filled out and brought back to Parent's Night. In addition a deposit of $250 must be given to secure your spot and this deposit is NON REFUNDABLE. The player needs to have the forms filled out then attend the meeting with at least ONE parent. Parent Night for the Junior National and Regional Teams will be announced via email and website once finalized.
Q: Does Top Flight offer refunds or prorated amounts?
Unfortunately we are not able to offer any type of prorated amount for our classes. If you register for a class and realize you are unable to attend you may cancel your registration PRIOR to the first date for a full refund. However once the date of the class arrives there are no refunds given for cancelation.
